NLOP PLAYERS

Come Play With Us @ NLOP.COM

At the start of the 2010 NFL season, who would have thought it could come to this? For a team who had previously only won 3 playoff games, a visit to Miami and Superbowl 44 looked a bit out of reach for the saints. But this isnt the first time the city of New Orleans has surprised anyone. Just like the crazy things you see during a mardi gras parade, you saw even more astounding things on that field last night. Peyton Manning threw for over 300 yards. The favorite Colts jumped out to ten-nothing lead. The biggest deficit overcome in superbowl history was 10, by the `87 skins... So handing a man possessed, like Peyton, a lead like that in a game of that magnitude, you would think those fans wearing black and gold would feel the beginning of the end. Not so. In fact, the Who Dat Nation has had plenty of practice and dealing with adversity, and making comebacks, on and off the field. So we sat back, and watched, as the second half was utterly dominated by the Saints, including the onside kick that shifted the momentum, for good i believe. Going into this game, 58 percent of America voted that the Colts would stand their ground, and give Peyton his second ring. But for those 58 percent, they got to see David and Goliath re-enacted on the gridiron. For us 42 percent, we just saw what we`ve seen for 4 and a half years. Resilience in the face of adversity, refusing to just fade away into those stormy waters... "The saints are a team of faith, and destiny" ~ Reggie Bush. So is the city you play for reggie. Fittingly enough, the Times-Picayune (local paper of NOLA) headline this morning? AMEN. Those four letters say it all. Being 25 years old, I didnt suffer through the Archie Manning days. But i did see the brown paper bags our fans used to put over their heads... Now they can replace those, with crowns. Because no matter what anyone thinks, says, argues, there is one NFL champion in this young decade.  This is just my own way of graciously saying "thank you". Thanks to the person on the left, who kept hammering home the phrase "believe".... Thanks to the person on the right, who, like a broken record, kept uttering "never"... Now we all know, who the undisputed champion of the world is....
